This study is not a surprise, for a long time data has shown that, at least in this country, professional development has no meaningful impact on teacher development. Once again this study highlights the importance of selecting teachers who have the proven ability to increase student learning- professional development, particularly after the first few years of teaching, does not help teachers improve student performance.
